Kurdish man shot dead by Iranian Basij forces at a checkpoint at the entrance to Bijar city. He was holding a plastic toy pistol he had purchased for his nephew when security forces mistook it for a real weapon and opened fire, shooting dozens of rounds. He was struck by multiple bullets in the head, neck, chest and thigh. He had recently been granted temporary leave from prison.
