20-year-old electronics engineering student at Azad University who was shot in the leg during popular protests in the Nazi Abad area of Tehran on Thursday evening January 8, 2026. After being shot, he took shelter in a residential parking garage for about 3 hours due to fear of continued clashes until the area calmed down. He was first taken to Amir al-Momenin Hospital in Javadiyeh but was refused admission due to lack of facilities. He was then transferred by ambulance to Shariati Hospital where he underwent surgery. His mother, Soraya Shams-Zare (retired from Welfare Organization), reported that the surgery was successful, but hours later medical staff announced that he had not regained consciousness and had died. His body was transferred to Kahrizak Legal Medicine after death. He was from a family with a history of sacrifice - his mother is the sister of Hojjatollah Shams-Zare, who was killed in the Iran-Iraq War.
